Beautify Yourself : DIY Dry Shampoo

When I finally discovered what Dry Shampoo was I was introduced to a entire new world of beauty and hair. I was already trying to only wash my hair once per week, with the introduction of using dry shampoo I find my hair looks beautiful and doesn't dry out the ends or make my bang area greasy as quickly as it normally would with the use of dry shampoo.

My favorite dry shampoo is Dove and the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. Of course, the Dove dry shampoo is about 9 dollars and the Oribe spray is 39 dollars.

I have been trying to budget more, so I came across a great DIY Dry Shampoo "recipe" that really works wonders and doesn't cost very much at all! You probably have the ingredients in your pantry already.

DIY Beautify Yourself Dry Shampoo
Everyone loves DIY! Let's get started...

What You Need

For Dark Hair: cocoa powder, corn starch, essential oil (optional!)

For Light Hair: corn starch, baking soda, essential oil (this is optional, but I love putting some peppermint in mine!)

What's Next

For Dark Hair: If you have dark hair, you can make dry shampoo by combining ½ cup of cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of corn starch! Completely optional but you can add a few drops of essential oil or you can leave it as is – it has a lovely chocolaty scent to it.

For Light Hair: Combine a ½ cup of corn starch with 2 tablespoons of baking soda.  Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to give it an aroma – I use peppermint oil and I love how fresh and clean it smells.

Reuse old spice containers as your "shakers" for your homemade dry shampoo. When you are ready to use simply "shake" a bit of the product in the area that needs attention and then comb it out.

I found the fabulous DIY recipe on the Free People blog!
