Today, after having a lovely day out with my Mom, I sat down to watch an Inconvenient Truth. There's something that really hits me when I watch that documentary or when I read the book.
We are our own worst enemies.
What I love so much about our world is the stars, the ocean, the animals...
What will we do when all of the animals we grew up with start disappearing? Some people that I speak with about the environment, global warming, and animals; simply don't care. They prefer to live in a dream world where they can do whatever they'd like with absolutely no consequences. Basically, it's like they are wearing horse blinders and can't see what's going on around them.
This week's Green is Sexy post is all about the World Wildlife Fund.
The World Wildlife Fund is an international conservation organization. Their mission:
I love WWF.
I don't keep it a secret either.
I actively participate in the annual "Earth Hour", I harass people about "Sweater Day" and I donate whenever I am able to.
If you're looking to make a difference in the world, WWF is one of the places you can go. They have volunteer opportunities listed and gifts available for your loved ones. It really isn't hard to change your lifestyle to better suit the world we live in.
Don't you want your children and great grandchildren to know that Polar Bears live in the Arctic? Or that Tigers and Snow Leopards really exist?! By the way the world is working right now, these beautiful creatures will be just figments of our imagination and lovely memories.
That's why we NEED to make a change.
Here are some ideas to lesson your carbon footprint:
Ride your bike to work
Take public transportation
Recyle, Reduce, Reuse
Turn off your lights
Wear a sweater
Say goodbye to bottled water
UNPLUG! If you're not using something, unplug it. You're saving energy!
Energy proof your home.
Use cold water in your washing machine
Don't use plastic bags! Bring your own when you go grocery shopping.
Want to go even further?!
Go out and pick up some litter
Go for a walk
Go check out WWF Canada, learn something & tell a friend! Imagine the impact we can make!
