#nowplaying

I have been singing and listening to this song ever since I heard it at the credits/end of an episode of Girls on HBO. It's so beautiful, it reminds me of what love is.

"She said, I don't want a model
I don't want a movie star
You don't have to win the lotto
I want you to win my heart
Yeah, she said I just want someone true"

"I said, No I don't need a model
I don't need a debutant
Just be a tough act to follow
You know, a free spirit, with a wild heart
Alright, I said I just want someone real, someone true
I said I just want someone else"

Jaclyn Hill Favorites | Morphe Brushes

When the Jaclyn Hill palette went on sale, I literally had been sleeping and got up at 4 a.m to purchase it! Sadly, the site was down. I was so confused (it was 4 am after all). I tried for an hour, and I still could not purchase the palette. I went back to bed and when I woke up again, I tried some more. Still nothing! Needless to say I was getting pretty frustrated. After reading some tweets and advice, I used a different browser and was able to purchase the very hyped-up palette.

The shadows are in a fairly cheap plastic palette, and the shadow qualities are almost the same. Jaclyn is a great YouTube vlogger, and she really does know quite a lot about make-up which is why I am a little disappointed in her recommendation. The shadows themselves are just "okay". I still prefer Make-Up Geek shadows, but that's just my personal opinion.

I don't find that these shadows are very pigmented, and they're quite chalky - especially the matte ones. I was surprised at the quality of the satin/metallic shadows however. They did go on quite nice! They are nice colours, I am still on the fence of "do I like" or "hate". I'm going to still give these shadows a chance and continue using them, just to see if I can adapt to the different formula. Who can really complain though? I think the entire palette cost 28$! I'll provide some photos below of the swatches and packaging for your reference.

DIY | Brown Sugar Scrub

I absolutely LOVE Fresh's Brown Sugar Scrub - of course it's pricey. I think it retails for about 45$ at Sephora. I wanted to achieve the same results without breaking the bank, so I made my own scrub!

What's so wonderful about this DIY scrub you ask? Well, it's nice knowing exactly what products you're using on your face. No preservatives or ingredients you can't spell or pronounce.

Basically I used products I already had at my disposal.

I used: coconut oil, brown sugar, jojoba oil and evening primrose oil. I used more coconut oil than the other oils and once it was mixed and put into a reusable glass container I had a shower so I could test out this little concoction!

It was GREAT! The scrub left my skin feeling baby soft and moisturized.

You guys should totally try to make your own scrub and let me know hoeing goes! Next homemade project : DIY Black Tea Face Mask

The Gym Lifestyle

Starting this past Monday I have been going hard at the gym. I signed up for a Goodlife membership and I am LOVING the facilities. I attend the women only gym in my area every single day, I can't wait for the new gym to open in my area. It's open 24 hours and will have yoga classes! I was working out at home with the blogilates calendar and Tara Stiles yoga, but I needed to try the gym life out for myself.

My boyfriend is hard into the gym lifestyle. That's where the title of this post comes from. He has all the knowledge and shares his insight with me whenever he can to better my experience at the gym.

Right now, I am concentrating on cardio and fat loss. Of course, I plan to get stronger and tone my body as well. I have an idea of how much weight I plan to "lose". I really only wish to lose the fat in those target areas... and then get all fit and lovely!

The Brunette Shake & Fashion Stalker Magazine

A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away, I created this blog.

This blog was created as an outlet/platform for my personal likes and opinions on fashion and beauty.

I have owned and operated The Brunette Shake for almost 6 years!!

I am very grateful for the opportunities and forever friends that this site has brought me.

I have ventured on a new path and I wanted to verify with all my loyal readers, what exactly was happening.

I have created a online magazine platform called "Fashion Stalker". Fashion Stalker is where I am going to focus on trends, fashion news etc. I have decided to continue to write for The Brunette Shake!

The Brunette Shake is and always will be my fashion baby. I started this website one day in a college class when I was ahead of everyone in accounting.

The Brunette Shake is going to be focused on my personal life and sharing. This does not mean I will no longer speak about fashion! Oh I plan to! But The Brunette Shake will be where I share all my new hip products and all my personal beauty hauls.

I'm very excited for TBS to continue, be prepared for daily posts and lots'o'fashion
