What Are You Reading?

"If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She'll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are. Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. - Robert Pattinson

I love books.

I re-read my favorites over and over until I know in my mind what the next sentence is going to be. I love how I can get completely lost in a book, imagination going wild.

I am currently re-reading the Anne of Green Gables series of novels, many of you don't know this about me but I spent a lot of lovely summers of my childhood in the beautiful Price Edward Island! I even moved there when I was ages 17-19, and loved every second of it.

One of my most favorite things to do is to climb underneath a comfy, soft blanket; curl up, drink tea, and read a book. There's something so beautiful about being at peace with your head in a book.  Book love and reading is one of the many reasons I always envisioned myself as "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast when I was a child. There's nothing I'd love more than to own my own library, I love the smell of books - new and old!

I am currently looking for some book suggestions, and I thought I'd also share what's on my current wishlist for all you book worms looking for some book recommendations like myself.

Karl even designs the backdrop, invites, dinner menu's, hostesses outfits, Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora's gowns.

Hello beautiful clothing!

My invitation must have been lost in the mail.  That's okay, there's always next year!

Currently Coveting : Kate Spade Saturday

It's no secret that I'm a huge Kate Spade New York fan. I mean, all Fall/Winter I wear the brightest pink Kate Spade coat and tell everyone how much I love it (after I get complimented about 75,987 times a day on it of course!).

Kate Spade is known for bright, fun and colourful clothing. Just looking at the clothing and accessories can bring a huge smile to your face and brighten up your day.

Kate Spade Saturday is all about bringing their own idea of casual weekend style to the fashion world. This past Wednesday was the official launch of Saturday, which is a lower cost Kate Spade label. From what I understand, there will be new items available every Saturday! Which coincidentally is basically everyone's favorite day of the week.

I am coveting almost everything currently available on Saturday! Check out the site here and check out my "Currently Coveting" list below!

Style Files : Ashley Benson

Ashley Benson is at the top of my "To Watch" list.

This girl has super edgy yet feminine style, she's in the new movie "Spring Breakers", she plays Hanna Marin on Pretty Little Liars, she was in The OC way back when... and she most definitely has that kind of style you know is going to make her at "It" girl.

She runs her own blog (read it HERE) and tweets on a daily basis. Not to mention she talks to her fans too, which makes Ashley Benson one of the most down to earth celebs I think Hollywood has been graced with.

Cara & Karl : Melissa Mag, Issue no. 9

Oh that Cara Delevingne... what hasn't this girl accomplished?

She ate lunch with Kate Moss, walked basically every runway, is the face of Burberry and DKNY. She has THE best eyebrows I think I've ever seen. She's been on the cover of countless magazines. And now, she's working with the legendary Karl Lagerfeld.

For the ninth issue of Melissa magazine, Karl Lagerfeld himself photographed 30 pages. 16 of those pages were of Cara Delevingne. Oh, how I wish I was a fly on the wall at that photoshoot!

In the photoshoot, Cara wears looks from the first capsule collection by Karl Lagerfeld.

And now, a behind the scenes video from the shoot. Karl is cool and collected and Cara is her usual quirky self. So basically - I love it.

Beautify Yourself : DIY Surf Spray for Hair

Every Wednesday I post a Beauty DIY post, let's be Budget Beauty babes!

This week I am sharing my go-to recipe for my DIY Surf Spray recipe.

I LOVE Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray, but I can't always afford the $20+ price tag. Did you know you can make it at home with things you probably already have in your cupboards?

It's TRUE!

Surf Spray is all about creating that perfect beachy, wavy hair

DIY Surf Spray

DIY Surf Spray Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of hot water (not boiling)
  • 2 tablespoons epsom salts (or more for extra texture)
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan or Sea Salt (Optional, but creates great texture!)
  • 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel (Or you can use hair gel!)
  • 1/2 tsp conditioner (Optional! I like to use coconut oil.)

How to Make:

Get a spray bottle. Put the hot water in the spray bottle and add the epsom salts, sea salt (optional), aloe vera, and conditioner (optional). Put the cap on the bottle and shake for 1-2 minutes or until epsom salts and sea salt are dissolved. Will last 3-4 months or longer.
To Use:

Spray on damp hair and "scrunch". That's it! Perfectly beachy waves.

Delete Digital Drama

Seventeen Magazine is making huge strides in stomping out online bullying.

It's become really hard to live happily when almost your entire life is posted online, because it makes it easier for bullies to target you and turn you into a victim.

I have dealt with online bullying, and it is NOT fun. It's emotionally draining and your self esteem takes a major hit. Seventeen is making a difference by helping girls learn what to do when they are getting bullied or if a friend is getting bullied.

See below for an excerpt from Seventeen's website about this great campaign!
Seventeen Magazine partnered with Facebook on a survey about online bullying, and it turns out over 54% of you have stood up to someone who has bullied you or someone else online (which is amazing!), but we want to encourage even more girls to get involved!
In addition to deleting any insulting comments or sending supportive messages to friends who have been bullied, pick up this awesome, ombré tee designed by L'Amour by Nanette Lepore! It's only $10 at JCPenney, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit STOMP Out Bullying, a national anti-bullying organization.
The shirts will be on sale in mid-March, but you can pre-order one now at jcpenney.com/lamour! Once you've snagged your own [delete] shirt, get inspiration for ways to style it from your favorite celebs!
This campaign certainly is a good one! I've ordered my tee, have you?

Here are some great photos/quotes from celebs regarding online drama.

Willa Holland rocks the tee!

"Don't listen to what other people's opinions of you are, because they're never going to be satisfied. People will make mean comments. You just have to be comfortable in your own skin." - Ashley Benson

“My advice for girls who are experiencing cyberbullying is don't respond to it. If it gets worse, or if it’s threatening, definitely tell an adult or a teacher and work it out with someone else. Don’t go back down to the bully's level and say mean things behind their backs or gossip about it. Just nip it in the bud and rise above it.” - AnnaSophia Robb

TEXTILE Elizabeth and James Spring 2013

TEXTILE Elizabeth and James is the epitome of cool.

There's nothing I don't adore about TEXTILE Elizabeth and James (and Elizabeth and James). I mean, season after season I have continuously lusted over the entire lookbooks of TEXTILE Elizabeth and James. There is something effortlessly chic about the garments, they have that super amazing vintage cool feel to them. Basically everyone and anyone could wear these clothes and feel amazing in them!

Everyone is aware of my love for all things TEXTILE Elizabeth and James. Every single time I've ordered and received an item that's TEXTILE Elizabeth and James I squeal like a little girl when I open the package from the post man. I get so excited because the items are just plain amazing. PLUS, the fabric and cuts of the items feel like they were made just for me. They are always super soft, and fit perfectly to my body.

The Spring 2013 Collection has made me drool several times (I'm just kidding about the drool).

I am obsessing over the simple words that mean so much on a few of the tops and sweaters, words like "Hippie", "Warrior", and "Poet". Sometimes simple and straight forward is the way to go! In this case, the Olsen's are totally knocking it out of the ball park. I'd like to know how they can be so far ahead of the fashion world - it's impressive! It's like they know what we want before we even realize we want it!

The Spring 2013 collection features lots of great tie dye, distressed denim, light wash denim and the most fabulous white pants with a simple black pinstripe on the outer leg (seriously, I must have them!)

Ah TEXTILE Elizabeth and James, I love you so!
