happy birthday, Kirsten Dunst!

Happy Birthday to Kirsten Dunst!

Kirsten is a style icon and an amazing actress. She has really great bohemian, laid back style which is always somewhere on my inspiration board.

Let's celebrate her birthday by enjoying some clips from some of her hit movies and some style photos too!

Have you had a chance to see some of Kirsten's newest films? On the Road is purely amazing, and Bachlorette had me laughing hysterically. Make sure to watch them if you haven't! Totally won't regret it.

SPOTTED : Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen in LA

I love these new photos of our favorite sisters! Ashley looks so happy, and so does Mary-Kate. It's such a nice change from the awful pap. photos you usually get to see.

And have you seen their outfits? It kind of reminds me of their style from around 2005/2006. Colourful and bohemian!

Green is Sexy

The Brunette Shake is going GREEN!

We are overrun with endless options of clothing, shoes, food, pharmaceuticals and beauty products. Many people don't bother/don't care about the harm they are doing to themselves and the environment when they purchase certain products.

Why not go the healthier route for both yourself and the planet?

That's what "Green is Sexy" is all about.

Of course, I will still be posting my regular fashion/beauty posts but I think it's important to stay environmentally conscious and make an effort when it comes to helping the Earth.

There's fabulous ways that you can save money by going "Green" and don't think that you'll be dressed like a hippie either! There are AMAZING green/organic Earth friendly clothing & beauty options that you will soon be reading about every week. Even H&M has a organic line of clothing! Being "Green" is the new thing!

Living in Atlantic Canada has it's perks. There are many places I can go to be Earth friendly, and to see and enjoy the natural wonders of this beautiful place we live is a definite plus!

Here's some ways that I am green:

  • Buy food from local vendors & at the farmers market
  • Plant my own herbs and vegetables
  • Thrift shop!
  • Use all natural detergent
  • Use of some all natural beauty products/soaps/lotions
  • Turn OFF the lights!
  • I use Water Bobbles with built in filters instead of water bottles!
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Limited - No use of pharmaceuticals
  • Keep the heat down, wear a cute sweater instead!
As you can see, there's many things you can do in  your day to day life that can reduce your carbon footprint on this beautiful planet!

Celebrities that are Eco-friendly:
Rachel McAdams
Natalie Portman
Leonardo Dicaprio
Stella McCartney
Miranda Kerr
Jake Gyllenhaal

I can't explain how excited I am to share and teach you all about eco-friendly fashion, beauty and even food/recipes!

Thursdays will now be Eco-Day on The Brunette Shake!

Currently Coveting : Kate Spade

Kate Spade always has the most fun designs imaginable! The garments scream "FUN".

I'm currently coveting:

Styled by Hillary | The Celine Tee

The Celine tee.

You know what I'm talking about. It's the current "it" t-shirt that has been seen on celebrities and on many fashion blogs.

Of course, not everyone can afford an authentic Celine tee. I have seen quite a few people make their own! Which can be a nice affordable solution if you're on a tight budget, without purchasing a replica from a factory in China (which I do not support! You can't fake fashion :) ).

Below I have a "Styled by Hillary" guide + lots of photos for inspiration on how to style this fab tee!

Of course, I have also included a "Shop This Post" where I have linked lots of great items that would go with your Celine tee!

James Franco is one of my favorite actors. He's got great style, and really it was no surprise that he is the face of Gucci, I mean... have you SEEN him?

This documentary looks amazing. There are interviews, clips from the runway, interactions with famous Gucci fans... and it is debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival this week.

Styled by Hillary | Sunday Style

It's Sunday.

There's something about Sunday's that just make you want to wear comfortable clothing and chill after what I hope was an amazing Saturday night! There's no reason to not be fashionable while being comfortable.

My Sunday uniform is a sweet statement blazer (above from ASOS), a cool graphic tee (above from DimePiece), Boyfriend denim (above from Joe Fresh) and some comfortable but fashion forward kicks (above ShoeMint Francoise Red Booties).

What's your Sunday Style Uniform?

Cara Delevingne | Take Two in Vogue May 2013

Cara Delevingne looks like she's practicing lines in this fabulous editorial in the May 2013 issue of Vogue.

Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn Cook!

Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn are the best of friends! So of course when I heard that Cara guest starred on the Season 2 Premiere of Jourdan's YouTube cooking show I just had to tune in! Of course, I laughed and laughed at these girls!

You'll have to watch the video yourself to realize how fun it is, so make sure you do! I've included it below.

In one scene, Cara wishes to try ketchup and brown sugar mixed together to see what it tastes like. I love her.

Jourdan: What's your relationship with chilies like ? Do you like it hot?
Cara: I hate it , I hate hot things.... in my mouth
Jourdan : *bursts into laughter*
Cara : *blushes* fuck you

Jourdan and Cara are the best of friends and also starred in this fabulous Harlem Shake video backstage at the Topshop fashion show!

Jourdan and Cara also walked the VS Fashion Show in 2012 and you can see how adorable they are in this video! Notice Cara's "Ain't No Wifey" tank?! AWESOME!

First Listen | Florence + the Machine's Great Gatsby Song

The Great Gatsby is one of those movies that is going to blow your mind. I just can't wait!

The music from the trailer is amazing, so I was over the moon when I found out Florence + the Machine released "Over the Love" today. It's nice to hear the entire song and not just the little clip in the trailer.

What do you think of this song? Amazing right?!

2013 MTV Movie Awards | Red Carpet

Last night's festivities at the MTV Movie Awards was hosted by none other than funny girl Rebel Wilson.

I only was able to tune in for a small amount of the show, but I was able to watch quite a bit of the red carpet. I am sad to say that I was quite disappointed in the turn out! No Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson, No Camilla Belle, No Ashley Benson... that's when I remembered. It's Coachella this weekend! Which is where a lot of great stars are right now, sadly! But of course, I won't keep you hanging. I will also be posting a fab Coachella fashion file early tomorrow!

Beautify Yourself | DIY Eye Make-Up Remover

DIY Make-Up Remover

What You Need

Water, no-tears baby shampoo, olive oil or coconut oil, a small glass container (a baby food container works best!).
What you do:
1. Pour a ½ tablespoon of baby shampoo into the clean glass container. Add ¼ teaspoon olive or coconut oil and mix together

2. Pour in enough water to fill your container. You’ll notice the oil pools at the top of the water mixture.
3. Shake well. Lightly dab a cotton ball into the mixture and gently remove eye makeup. Shake well each time you use.
This mixture is gentle on your skin, and takes off even the most stubborn mascara and eyeliner with no problems. Of course, make sure you don’t use too much of the shampoo and oil—anything besides water can irritate your eyes when used in large quantities!
If you want a super quick, frugal way to get rid of your make-up...listen up!
All I use for make-up remover is vaseline, and occasionally the above mixture! Simply using vaseline is a trick I actually learned from reading a Rachel Bilson interview from years ago. Vaseline is inexpensive, and gentle even on the most sensitive of skin.
I found the fabulous DIY Shampoo recipe on the Free People Blog.
Of course, if you're not into DIY go ahead and shop by choice Make-Up Removers below!

SPOTTED | Mary-Kate Olsen at the Tribeca Ball at the New York Academy of Art

Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted with her current flame at the Tribeca Ball.

She looked absolutely fabulous with minimal, neutral coloured make-up.

I also am totally coveting her fur sole on the pine striped jacket she's wearing. My goodness, Ashley and Mary-Kate sure know how to dress to impress.
