Newsflash | YouTube

I used to have a YouTube channel, I loved it!
I posted hauls, I did make-up tutorials, how to achieve the perfect brows...
I've decided to re-start my channel!
Let's connect again on another level with fun videos and a look into my day to day life!

Favorites Friday | Tara Eats - Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie

My Friday favorite this week is from Tara Eats. Tara Stiles is one of my favorite yoga instructors, I am an avid follower of her YouTube videos! I love yoga! She has taught me all I know!

Anyways, her Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie recipe is the most delicious thing! Especially, first thing in the morning. It's a great, healthy treat!

Try it out, and check out Tara Stiles yoga YouTube video's while you're at it!

My Life | Puppy and Make-up

Our puppy is 4 months old and completely a badass. I don't joke. He is so bad, brazen and rebellious! A complete escape artist... He broke out of our house throught the air conditioner THREE TIMES! Anyways, when he decides to be cute it's when I'm getting ready for work in the morning or when I'm getting ready for bed at nighttime (morning and nighttime routine videos/short film coming soon!).
Anyways, today I was watching Jaclyn Hill's new video and of course doing my make-up at the same time.
My puppy always sits at my feet, but this morning he was so interested in Jaclyn's talk about haters that he was standing with his paws (on my Naked Palette!!) paying avid attention to her! He's a puppy after my own heart.

Inspiration | All Gold Everything

My favourite colours are white and gold. I love gold. All gold everything, all the time.
I love gold jewelry, gold make-up, gold interior decor, gold accessories, gold shoes, gold clothing...
I just love the idea of gold, I've got the midas touch.
I just find that gold and white are very inspiring. I mean, white is a blank canvas and you can do whatever you please with it. Gold is the glam you need in life!
My personal items for home decor are all gold and white. I never buy silver jewelry and I love a good gold eyeshadow to bring out the yellow in my eyes.
Here are some of my personal gold items in my life, and a couple of my favourite gold glam photos/style!

Lifestyle | Closet Cleaning

When you move, you have to go through your closet and sometimes, get rid of the past.
When I recently moved in with my boyfriend into his beautiful house, I had to go through my closet and get rid of some items. It was insanely hard to go through these items that I have lived life in, and give them away.
My boyfriend was very helpful and is even building me a closet to house all of my fashion collection. I'm kind of like Carrie from Sex and the City. So many clothes, nothing to wear. Kyle even brought the remnants of my fashion room into our bedroom and set up my bookshelves for my shoes, purses and fashion magazines.
It's really hard to closet clean, especially if you have been a fashionista since birth and are a semi fashion hoarder.
I followed three rules when I was cleaning:
1. Have I worn this in the past year?
2. Is it my size?
3. Do I even like this item anymore? Is it still my "style"?
If I answered "No", then out to the donation box they went!

There was some pieces I just couldn't let go of. Like any woman, some clothing has secret memories attached to them.
One of my favourite scenes in the Sex and the City movie was when Carrie cleaned out her closet with Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. Even Confessions of a Shopaholic had a closet cleaning scene!

It was really fun to relive the past, and the memories when I was cleaning. I would suggest doing this every 6 months to stay on top of your closet and organization. Do you really need those dresses you got on sale from Forever21 with the tags still attached? That sweater that's two sizes too small?
Closet organization is kind of my thing, a really great hobby. That's why I am always cruising The Coveteur to see how celebrities and editors style their closets!

Girl Power | Boxing for Fitness

My boyfriend and I have been doing a Rocky Marathon. This inspired him to hit the gym hard and for me to secretly look up women's boxing classes in town.
I'm not one to "go to the gym". I find it insanely monotonous. I'd rather dance, do yoga, take a spin class or in this case - take up female boxing.
If Summer Roberts can do it, so can I!

I found some great classes (and inexpensive!) three days a week. Camilla Belle even posted about taking a boxing class. I think it's the new black!

What kind of exercise classes do you take? Would you recommend female boxing?

Confessions of a Shopaholic | Volume 2

As promised from Volume 1 of my Confessions of a Shopaholic series, here are some of my tips/tricks that have saved me from overwhelming credit card debt, empty bank accounts and depleted RRSP/TFSA savings.

  1. Carry only cash when shopping. Do not bring your credit/debit cards with you. When you get temped with something more expensive than you can afford you don't have any cards with you to charge with the new purchase that might just make you late on rent...
  2. Make a monthly budget and budget EXACTLY how much you will allot yourself to spend on new clothing, shoes, make-up... Do not go over this limit
  3. Take your limit down on your credit cards. Hard to overspend to when you don't have a high credit card limit! Credit cards feel like free money.. but it's not. The interest alone makes me want to shed a tear and I have a GOOD interest rate!
  4. Make a list of your current "wishes" for clothing, make-up or whatever your poison is. Stick to the list!!!
  5. Don't stray when you see a sale. It's so so so hard to NOT buy anything at a sale, I know. But those sale items you probably won't like or wear or even want after you purchase them. Even sale items adds up over time.
Those have been my top 5 tips/tricks I have been using to get myself out of debt and out of over buying products.
Life of a fashionista is wonderful, but you don't have to be a bad version of a shopaholic. Be a savvy shopper!
P.S. Does anyone know of any good sales?

Favorites Friday | Jaclyn Hill's Envious Mermaid

I love watching YouTube make-up, hair and beauty tutorials. Especially hauls, they're so much fun! I have learned a lot about make-up and application from the comfort of my own home.
As of late, I have been really enjoying Jaclyn Hill's make-up tutorials. She uploaded one early this week called "Envious Mermaid" and I absolutely adore it! I actually put an order through Sephora for the Becca Opal Highlighter - I am so excited to try it out I can't even stand the wait! I also want to try out the Stila Emerald Metallic eye shadow she used, it really finished the look. I can't wait to replicate this look and add my own personal flair!
I am really into mermaids. Always have been, always will be. I used to turn over restaurant place mats and draw mermaids on the back. It's not just a trend thing, I've always loved mermaids and mystical stories and creatures.
Jaclyn Hill's YouTube channel has taught me a lot about make-up application, I basically have gathered my own knowledge about make-up plus Jaclyn's and have created this flawless make-up routine.

I never used to wear make-up. Like ever. I was a hippie, I never wore a bra, I wore crazy outfits and once stole a bunny that was being tested on (sorry Mom). After a little while I began to grow into myself more and left the hippie ways behind, and did myself up a little. Don't get me wrong, I do still love the environment and animal activism as I still am an active member with PETA,  WWF, Amnesty International and other groups that help the world. My style has always been unique and creative, and now I have make-up as another artistic and creative outlet!
Who are your favourite YouTube beauty guru's? I will list a couple more of my favourites below!
Check out this great list of YouTube Beauty Guru's you SHOULD be watching from Buzzfeed!

Harper's Bazaar | Audrey and Emma

Audrey Hepburn's 20 year old granddaughter, Emma Ferrer graces the subscriber cover of Harper's Bazaar for September. Audrey Hepburn is one of my influences in life, and Breakfast at Tiffany's is my favourite film. When I saw these editorial photos, my jaw dropped. These are stunning and a great homage to Audrey from her granddaughter.

The photos were taken by Michael Avedon, who is the grandson of Richard Avedon, whom actually photographed Audrey on multiple occasions throughout her career.

In the shoot, Emma replicates the iconic photos of Audrey with stunning results.

RIP | Robin Williams

I just wanted to take a moment on my blog to cherish Robin Williams. After the sudden suicide of this legendary comedic actor, the whole world is filled with grief. Robin worked so hard to bring smiles and laughter to everyone around him, it saddens me that he could not find the happiness and laughter for himself.

It's times like this that we must all stop, think and re-evaluate our lives. A person who everyone conceived as happy, was very unhappy inside and decided to leave this world.
I hope that this tragic loss will create a support movement in order to have more outlets available for people to connect who are battling their inner demons. Mental health is still health, and should be treated the same as any other illness.
Just remember, that every person you meet is battling something... Sadly, some of these battles are lost and people give up before they can find the help they need.

If you ever need a helping hand, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK. It is based out of the USA but is available for both the USA and Canada.
Let's take a moment to cherish the moments that Robin gave us. He helped put a smile on my face since I can remember... Playing the Genie in Aladdin, Batty in Fern Gully with his "Batty Rap", being Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumunji, Flubber, Dead Poet's Society, he made an epic cameo in Friends, Hook... My childhood was surrounded by Robin and he really did make me laugh the loudest and smile the biggest.

Olsens | Favourite Outfits

You know how people have icons, fashion inspirations...
Well mine are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen! Have been since I can remember. I always wanted to have their hair, cool shoes and clothes. I'm not the only one who feels this way about the twins that have been in the spotlight since they were six months old! The New York Times named them Fashion Icons, and they have won CFDA awards for their fashion design work with one of their fashion lines, The Row.
We fashionistas stalk the Olsen style blogs like Olsens Anonymous, and rejoice when they post new content.
It was super hard to narrow down my favorite 19 (weird number, but I could not narrow it down to 15, gimmie a break!) outfits, but here we go!

The Lady is a Vamp | Lipstick Trends

The 80's\90's were all about grunge, dark lipstick and taking risks with fashion, beauty and hair.
Sephora is carrying a great release from Urban Decay, the Pulp Fiction collection which was featured on The Brunette Shake last month.
The lipstick is top of my list for my make-up list this month.
The Chanel lipcolour in "Vamp" is a purpley, black, brown colour and it was worn by Uma Thurman in the early 90's in the Pulp Fiction movie. It's a cult classic! It's a dramatic shade, and this is what is trending right now along with bright coloured lipsticks. Rebel from MAC Cosmetics actually reminds me of this colour. Literally every single one of my friends has Rebel in their make-up arsenal.

It depends what runway you look at, but lipstick really makes a look "pop" and finalized the look you were trying to accomplish.
Lady is a Vamp, and if you're looking to rock the city streets a vampy lipstick should be top of your list to try this fall!
It has been seen multiple times on the red carpet by beautiful women like Kate Bosworth, Lana Del Rey and Camilla Belle.

Voluminous Miss Magna Review

I was really excited to try out the Voluminous Miss Magna mascara by L'Oreal in Blackest Black since I am an avid fan of the Carbon Black Voluminous mascara. Sadly, I was extremely disappointed by the wand, the mascara formula itself is great though.
It creates a really nice spikey lash, that really does remind me of the Magna characters you would see in asian comics.  The wand is really thin and is supposed to bend 360 degrees, but I find that the wand will NOT move in any way without poking my eye out.
Beyond the hype, I won't be re-purchasing this mascara. I will stick to my tried and true mascaras that I rotate every three months.

What's your favorite mascara?
My top 3 are : They're Real by Benefit, Carbon Black Voluminous by L'Oreal and Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam.

Friday Favourite | L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

Friday Favourites are what I am coveting/loving week after week.
This week, I am completely head over heels in love with L'Oreal Paris's Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. The original black and gold tube of heaven and miracles. I think it might just be made with unicorn breath and mixed together by fairies. I'm just kidding - it really is amazing though! I have been cheating on my tried and true Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara with my newest obsession, Carbon Black.
It makes such a drastic difference in your lashes. No joke! All you need is one coat and you're good to go. It is used by many celebrity make-up artists, and was introduced to me by Brett Freedman, the brow genius. He does Camilla Belle's make-up for special events and literally is a god when it comes to brows. You've seen Camilla's brows. Not only is she blessed with good genes, she's blessed with Brett Freedman!
I definitely recommend this mascara. It's inexpensive, and works better than the designer brand mascara like Dior Show and YSL.
It doesn't only lengthen, but it also gives you extreme volume! I woke up this morning with Cousin It's hair and looking exhausted. I guess having a new puppy and getting ready for company visiting really can make you tired! But, this mascara literally saved me.
It's that extra oomph that you need when you leave the house. Literally all you need. A little swipe of lipstick and some mascara and you're good to go! Great for the low maintenance girl.
