Spooky Tag

As many of you already know, I am a sucker for all things Fall and Halloween. I just HAD to participate in the Spooky Tag on my YouTube Channel!

As you may have noticed, I am doing a revamp of my website and YouTube channels, even considering a new blog name. I'll keep ya'll updated with the news

Take Me to the Pumpkin Patch

A slow, bumpy tractor ride brought us deep into a farmers field where we were able to find a wonderful assortment of pumpkins.

Personally, I like to pick the pumpkins that are perfect. But also the pumpkins that have imperfections that usually people don't gravitate towards. I like them because they are unique, and they still need to fulfill their Halloween destiny.

Plus, the oddly shaped pumpkins are super cool when you carve/paint them!

The Great Pumpkin | Green Pig Country Market

Green Pig Country market is only about a 10 minute drive from my home. The Fall is the best time to go! I may be biased because of my love of pumpkins, however it really is the best.

They have a super neat corn maze, which at nighttime becomes haunted. They also have the province's best pumpkin selection, and the most amazing selection of local goods. I almost forgot to mention the pumpkin blaster where you shoot pumpkins out of a cannon. I feel bad for the pumpkins that don't get to fulfill their Halloween destiny, but that's just me.

I've been there at least 3 times to gawk at the pumpkin selection. They have the most lovely white and red coloured pumpkins, they remind me of something you'd only see at Disney World.

I wore this fabulous cape that I found at Marshalls, paired with green leggings from Target and some other mix/match tops.

Harvest Moon | Fall Fun

Happy October everyone!

Autumn is my favourite season of all the seasons. Pumpkins, apple picking, scarves, leaves changing colour, Halloween... I could go on forever.

It's my ideal time to decorate and my most cozy outfits come to life during these months.

I love the apple orchard. I love the half eaten apples that deer have been munching on, and I love trying to find the "perfect apple". My favourite kind of apples are red delicious and honeycrisp. At our local orchard we are only able to pick cortland or macintosh.

I really enjoyed picking apples with my love in my red vintage prarie dress. I wore my Frye Harness boots that I've had for years and years. I've actually worn these boots for a lot of fun activities, and they have seen the world.

Anyways, back to the apples. We picked 20 pounds of apples, and I am currently dreaming of all the pies, crisps and sauces I will be able to whip up in my kitchen.

We went to the Verger Belliveau orchard in Memramcook, New Brunswick!

My Travel Diary | Philippines 2017

2017 has been one for the books. I was able to adventure half way across the world for work with Asurion for 3 weeks to the Philippines and I absolutely adored it. We left on June 16th and came back on July 7th.

Our initial flights there went a little like this :
Moncton > Toronto > Hong Kong > Manila, PH

Our return flight :
Manila, PH > Tokyo, Japan > Toronto > Moncton

The flights were fun and definitely a great experience. We had the sleeping "pods" on our 16 hour flight between Toronto and Hong Kong and we flew over Nunavut and saw some amazing ice bergs! The food on the Air Canada flights were so delicious and they had great movie and TV options too. I watched "Table 19" and laughed so hard.

On the return flights I actually slept for 12 hours on the long flight and missed all the goodness. I had barely any sleep in PH and I think I caught up on it on the flight back.

In Hong Kong I fell in love with a girl's yellow raincoat and it was all I could think about it. I also purchased the cutest Mickey Mouse Paris tote bag from Hong Kong DisneyLand.

When we landed in Manila, it was a definite culture shock. People from every which way trying to get us into their taxi cabs. Thankfully, after being firm with my "no" and finding our shuttle to the hotel - we were on our way to Nuvali, Santa Rosa Laguna where we spent majority of our time.

We stayed at Seda, Nuvali and it was such a cute and fun hotel. It was a minute walk away from our offices, and had great food and a pool. My room was 823 - on the 8th floor way at the top. I had a great view of the lagoon, shopping and nature. One evening there was a crazy thunder and lightening storm and I was able to capture some video/photos from my open hotel window. I had a group of Australian's staying on my floor and it was so fun to connect and listen to their accents.

I was in awe the entire trip and soaked up as much as I could. I became addicted to mango, dried mango and croissants. As well as DIY pina colada's - It's fresh blended pineapple, with a shot or two of malibu coconut rum. We had quite the experience with food and drinks while there. Filipino's eat everything - I mean everything. Our Filipino friends brought us to "Gerry's" in Manila and they gave us mystery dishes to try. I did not adventure with this at all. I stuck to the plain rice and refused to eat anything else. I discovered a strange looking hair in my food and it turned me off completely. So I ate my plain rice and drank Mango smoothie's. Turned out that hairy dish was pig head and I have never been so glad I didn't try something before. We also became regulars at the local Starbucks around the corner from the hotel. They called me "Anastasia Alberta" because they thought I looked like Anastasia Steele from Fifty Shades of Grey, which I have heard so many times! It was pretty funny though - they would write Anastasia on my cup and knew my order by heart. I became addicted to Americano's with a shot of hazelnut and two brown sugar. It's like my go-to coffee now!

I met some really wonderful people on my visit and hope someday to return!

I climbed Taal Volcano and was the first of my group to reach the crater. It was gorgeous. There were yellow butterflies all around me, and it was worth the 3 hour hike. It was not an easy feat! 3 people from my group of 5 didn't make it to the top and had to turn around. It felt like a definite bucket list moment when I got there and had no issue paying extra for the professional photos at the top. Our guide was fantastic, she explained everything and helped so much. She took photos on our journey and made us feel comfortable.

We also went to Green Hills Market in Manila. Green Hills is where a lot of people can buy replica handbags and shoes - I avoided this and went straight for the locally made goods. I purchased pearls, turquoise and coral necklaces, handwoven purses and bread baskets. I tried to purchase a jade bracelet but I couldn't get it on my wrist. A lot of Filipino's are quite small - I don't have a large wrist either so I was very sad I couldn't get a beautiful jade bracelet. One of the vendors tried to force one on my wrist and it got stuck on a bone - it was not fun. On our Green Hills adventure we also stopped at Starbucks where I spilled my Nick's Juice from Australia all over Kelly. I had been drinking these juices daily, and one day I purchased 3 of them and they were in a paper bag and one started to leak. My comment when the juice was leaking down my leg was "Am I peeing myself or is it raining?" I didn't even think that it was green juice all over my legs. It was a hysterical and classic Hillary moment. We actually went to Green Hill's twice. The second time we stopped at a cute little french inspired restaurant and I was able to (finally!) find Parisian Macaron. I bought 60 of them. SIXTY. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and had a 5 hour drive back to our hotel in back to back traffic. This is the trip that gave me such a kink in my neck that I couldn't turn my head to the left.

To Be Continued...

Summer Favourites | June/July 2017

This Summer has been one for the books. From June 16th-July 7th I had the pleasure of working in the Philippines. It was absolutely the best experience I have ever had. I made so many life long friends, and built relationships I never thought I would have. I also was able to complete things on my bucket list like climb a volcano (Taal Volcano), drink out of a coconut, elevator kisses, see pineapples, mango, bananas and dragonfruit grow and so much more. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I've never been happier. I am currently writing in my new Wonder Woman journal (inside Philippines joke) with all our fun adventures and stories. I can't wait to share some of my stories - I might have to make a YouTube video sharing a few of them. A "chit chat" video so to speak!

Anyways - more rambling from me (is that really a surprise?) in the below video with a few of my Summer-so far-2017 favourites. Let me know what your favourite things are this Summer and be sure to subscribe!

Rock Star Diaries | April 2017

Creating Spotify playlists are loads of fun! Each and every month I create a new one, and have decided it's a fantastic idea to share it with all of you!

I enjoy music that gets my blood pumping, and makes me dance around my kitchen while baking.

This is my April edition of my Spotify Loves. These are all the songs that I am singing, or dancing around to.

Maple Woods

We had a very busy weekend! Filled with fun adventures and first times for everyone.

We travelled to Indian Mountain and visited the Maple Woods where we purchased some local maple products (oh my goodness maple cream where have you been all my life) and ate some taffy off the snow, which basically is a Canadian end of Winter, hello Spring tradition!

After stuffing ourselves full of maple sugar and walking the 15 minutes back to the truck, we drove to a local spring that literally was in a mountain and filled up all our water bottles. It was a lot of fun! The water tasted delicious, and I can't wait to go back to fill them up more often.

After our maple excursion, we were all craving MORE maple. So we made Maple French Toast Bacon cupcakes. Some day soon I'll have to post the recipe, because damn it was fine. We ran out of icing sugar for the frosting so we had to make a quick trip into town, but it was worth it.

We spent a majority of the weekend teaching a little 6 year old someone how to ride a bike without training wheels. She could barely bike WITH training wheels, but we were able to help her with her confidence and balance to now have the nickname "Speedy Hot Wheels".

Who Inspires Your Style?

If it has sparkles, lots of colour and some vintage flair put my name on it! The other day I was thinking about my style and my fashion inspiration. I gain inspiration from everything. I really love it all - pink to polka dots, all black to sequins... it's wherever my mood and imagination takes me.

I think my interest in style began at a very young age. I would always see my Nanny dressing up in interesting outfits with costume jewelry. Some days the dresses had Zebras on them, the next day she wore sequins, she had an arsenal full of clip on earrings and a jewelry collection that would make your heart sing. She is a beautiful, and wild soul. My brother, Dalton, and I used to spend HOURS downstairs in my Nanny's basement going through and playing with things from decades past. We used to call it Nanny's "store". She had lived there since the early 1970's, and had a tenancy to keep everything so one day we would find our Mom's old Barbies, and the next day we would find Nanny's going how hats from the 1950's. The "store" closed two summers ago when My Nanny experienced a flood in the basement. So heartbreaking. My Mom has always been a positive influence as well, with her classic and professional style; she's my buddy for thrift shopping and sales. She can always turn rags into riches, and she makes heads turn wherever we go.  My Grandma was so proper and had classic Parisian style, she was very French and always looked so classy. She liked to incorporate stripes and colour into her wardrobe, with dainty jewelry. She lovingly left me her favourite leather jacket that she saved for months to get, along with her favourite jewelry pieces; a silver bangle and a dainty gold chain bracelet with a lucky charm that she had received from my Grandpa on it.

I was that girl who never cared about what other people thought. I wore pink boots with pom poms to high school, I can rock a lot of polka dots and wear brightly coloured tights under gorgeous dresses. I like to be sunshiney and happy, although some days I can rock grunge like no other. It's all about balance. There's something so beautiful about clothing, you live your life in it!

I just wanted to give her a little shout out of love and admiration to my biggest inspirations in life.

Hello Babe | Bootay Bag

BootayBag has got to be one of the cutest subscription services I have ever received! I received the most perfect pairs of cheeky panties a girl could dream of, they fit so well and it's so nice to get little girly gifts in the mail. The packaging is super sweet, and the actual panties themselves are really high quality and the styling is gorgeous. I chose the size L for myself, as my booty doesn't quit, usually I am a size 8 dress if that helps you when choosing your sizes! There's something so nice about having beautiful panties underneath sweatpants or wearing a fancy dress.

BootayBag is a monthly subscription for women, you get charged 12$ USD per month with free shipping in the USA! You can choose to : mix it up, no thongs, always thongs - which is fabulous because I'm the type that hates thong panties.  You can pick your style preference and follow along on their social media channels to see what's going on in the world of BootayBag

Smooth Move | My 5 Favourite Smoothies

The Brunette Shake was named after my thought process, that I am forever a brunette and I love to shake things up in life. Which is equally true when it comes to things I eat and drink.

I have been getting into the grove of having a smoothie each and every morning when I wake up, and sometimes even mid-day. I've been having a lot of fun playing around with different recipes that others have shared with me through a post on Facebook, and some that I have found in the depths of the internet (AKA Pinterest). Also, if you don't follow me on Pinterest you totally should. I pin everything pretty and delicious! Like cakes and cupcakes, pies and tarts, style, pink things, home decor, fitness and health, holiday ideas, arts n' crafts...

Of course, after weeks of testing and experiments, I have found my perfect smoothie. I don't really measure either, I kind of just throw handfuls of fruit and liquids into my blender until I feel like it's perfect. I've put some approximate measurements for you guys though.

I have a few really good ones, so I have made this post with all my top smoothies. Some taste like dessert, and if you know me at all, you know I love dessert. If you're looking for frozen fruits I would highly suggest Presidents Choice - they literally have everything, and it always seems to be on sale. I was able to find avocado cubes, coconut chunks and every other fruit I ever wanted.

After switching to smoothies for breakfast, I have gained energy for the day (my work day starts at 7am!), lost a considerable amount of weight (along with my 21 day fix workouts, cardio, weights and yoga!), and have noticed a beautiful change in my skin and hair. I drink boatloads of water too, up to 4L per day.

Beauty and the Beast 2017

I had the pleasure of attending the first viewing of Beauty and the Beast in my area tonight. It was fabulous. I went alone, the theatre was about half full, maybe less! I was really able to enjoy myself and get right into the movie.

My favourite movie of all time is Beauty and the Beast. It has been since I was a little girl. I always admired Belle's curiosity and charm. Her nose stuck in a book, she was exactly like me. I looked up to her strong and independent spirit. I never in a million years thought that the new version, would be as good as the original! It is perfect for the 90's kids that grew up loving Belle, and the new generation too.

The casting in this movie was flawless. Belle, played by Emma Watson, was fantastic. She brought a new vision to Belle that was very appreciated. Gaston and La Fou couldn't have been a better fit. The songs and the music were top notch, and had me singing along in my seat. I even think the relationship between Lumiere and Cogsworth was so much fun! Really great chemistry. The Beast seemed to have more dimension in this film as well. You really get to see all the different sides of his being.

Rock Star Diaries | March 2017 Edition

I've spent the past two days trying to figure out how to embed a Spotify playlist! Everything I read said there would be an embed button, which of course I could not find for the life of me. Eventually, after two glasses of wine, I figured it out!

Each month I plan to share what I am currently listening too. I'm constantly listening to music, and dancing around my house. I'm one of those people you see dancing and singing in their car when they're driving/at a stoplight.

This is my March edition of my Spotify Loves. These are all the songs that I am singing, or dancing around to.

Miss Adventure | Polka Dot

I grew up with Miss Piggy sheets on my bed. Literally. She was a go-go dancer and was wearing pink, and all the other Piggy dancers were wearing other colours. It was fantastic. My sheets made me dream of theatre and dance. When I saw the Miss Adventure videos featuring Miss Piggy and Zosia Mamet, I was so excited! Kate Spade is my favourite brand, and Miss Piggy is wonderful.

The video is hilarious. I've included it below! Try not to watch it a million times, I dare you!

Anyways, when I received this gorgeous package with the polka dot Kate Spade faux fur coat in it, I nearly passed out from excitement. The amount of outfits I could picture myself in with this coat...It is very much a glamour coat.

I took the coat with me to Prince Edward Island to visit my Nanny, who has been a major influence in my stylish well being. She adored the coat. I did take photos wearing the coat twice in PEI with my sister, Olivia. Two different outfits, and the coat was the main part of the show.

There's something so fun and unique about Kate Spade pieces. I have quite the collection and I'd love to share someday! It makes me happy knowing that someday in the far away future, my granddaughter might wear this coat in a flying car shaped like a Frisbee.

Insta Stories | March 2017

The new feature on Intagram that allows you to share daily stories (similar to SnapChat) is quickly becoming an addiction.

I love how I can share day to day things with my followers that I normally wouldn't post in an actual Instagram post!

If you don't follow me on Instagram, you should. I'm hill-arious. In the meantime, here's some of my Insta Stories for the month of March!

Expect to see: A quick trip to Prince Edward Island, lots of smoothies, workout fails and more!

March 1st-March8th 2017

Sweet Spot Labs | It's a girl thing...

Hey sugar!

I've spent the past month using Sweet Spot Lab's Vanilla Blossom gentle wash so that I could properly review it with my 100% honest opinion (as per usual!). I love natural and girly products, so this was fun and super interesting for me to try out.

If you want to keep things short and sweet (pun intended), I'm in love. You need this. Go buy it.

If you want an in depth review, I gotcha sister. Feminine products are sometimes seen as "embarrassing" or something that should be kept private. Sweet Spot Labs is all about being fun and fearless. I really admire the powerhouse women who created these wonderful pH balanced skincare products for all us ladies! I had a chance to use the Vanilla Blossom gentle wash before and after a wax, as well as after the gym and casually during the week as well. I don't think I could possible go back to not using them! They keep your sweet spot, well... sweet! They also carry super cute little "to-go" wipes which are amazing to throw into your purse, or if you're going away on a quick trip. The stuff smells amazing, is 97% natural and doesn't irritate your skin! I have very sensitive skin, and  I didn't get any redness, itchiness or anything negative at all.

You can purchase them at the following retailers:
Shoppers Drug Mart stores
Oh! And one more thing - they're cruelty free!

Inspo : Sunday Somewhere Dot Sunglasses

These sunglasses have been on my radar for what seems like forever. I remember very vividly seeing Jenny from Margo and Me wearing them poolside last year.

It took me forever but they're finally mine!

The Sunday Somewhere brand has so many classically chic glasses you'll want them all. The Dot sunglasses in white are my most favourite, as you'll soon see below and in future posts when all I will do is ramble on about my cool sunnies...

You can find super mod, super chic and super unique sunglasses. I'm currently surrounded by snow, wearing a parka with faux fur on the hood, crazy boots that are warm until -40 degrees Celsius, a scarf, fleece lined mittens, wool socks... The list goes on. Basically, I mean to say that I am in freezing cold Eastern Canada, looking at sunny photos of sunglasses.

I have no shame.

Check out my inspo below!
